While addressing a supportive crowd at Saturday night’s Talbot Avenue Bridge Lantern Walk, County Executive Marc Elrich announced he intends to run for an At-Large seat on the County Council now that he cannot run for a third term.
County voters overwhelmingly voted in favor of Ballot Question A (limiting the County Executive to two terms) by a margin of 67% to 33%.
While council members also are term-limited, the terms must be consecutive. Elrich previously served three terms on the Montgomery County council as an At-Large member but left the council to become the executive, where he is in his second, and final, term.
Elrich, 75, also served as a councilmember on the Takoma Park City Council from 1987-2006.
Executive Marc Elrich, who is barred from seeking re-election following passage of the ballot question on team limits, announced he is running for an At Large council seat in the next election. @mymcmedia @MontCoExec
